With the YouSport app, fans, clubs and athletes can record and edit the highlights of their competitions and share them online. Through this app, 7Sports is providing a well-deserved platform not just for amateur sports, but also for the – usually voluntary – work performed by local clubs, which extends far beyond the playing field.

Kick off – and action

Armed with a smartphone and tripod, players, clubs and fans can easily record, edit and share highlights from sports such as soccer, handball and basketball online with their community.

It’s Saturday afternoon. Your favorite soccer team is performing exceptionally well at a local derby – a shot against the bar to start with, but the striker does not give up and delivers the decisive goal in the 85th minute to take the team to a 3:1 victory. The spectators around the edge of the field cheer, the players celebrate with the scorer. Now you want to share this district league match not just with friends via a shaky WhatsApp video, but with sports fans across Germany – ideally filmed professionally? You can do this with the YouSport app!

Using the mobile app, which has been available free of charge in the App Store and via Google Play since June 2017, as well as the related online portal, fans, clubs and athletes can record the highlights of their competitions and share them with their community. Whether it’s soccer, handball, volleyball or ice hockey, the app is available for all amateur and popular sports. In order to record great sporting moments for eternity or to upload highlight clips virtually in real time, all that’s needed is a smartphone and a simple tripod. The app takes care of the video editing and uploading to the YouSport.de portal.

7Sports, the sports business unit of ProSiebenSat.1 Group, has developed the app: “Through YouSport, we want to revolutionize the world of amateur sports by taking its visibility to a whole new level. With the app, our aim is to make high-quality videos the standard across all popular sports,” explains Zeljko Karajica, CEO of 7Sports. The app has already been used at over 12,000 soccer, volleyball, hockey and handball games and major events.

  • Prominent support

To raise even more awareness within the sports world, since fall 2017 YouSport has been receiving prominent support in the form of testimonials Lars and Sven Bender, who both currently have a contract with Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Under the slogan “Show everyone: Film your team,” they are appealing for amateur sports to also be given a well-deserved platform with YouSport.

  • Sport unites

Thanks to the YouSport app, celebrations are no longer confined to the edge of the playing field – they can take place anytime, anywhere.

Partners with a wide reach have been brought on board to make sure that the clips are seen: There is a comprehensive cooperation with FuPa, one of the largest amateur soccer networks in the German-speaking world, for instance, as well as with Ligaportal TV, where many Austrian soccer players are able to present their highlights. Soccer brand Kicker has also been on board since the 2018/2019 season: As part of the content cooperation with Olympia-Verlag publishers, kicker.de links all videos in the soccer category that have been filmed using the app to editorial reports and the amateur soccer network’s results service. As well as the clips, there is a weekly highlight show “YouSport Royal”, which, in addition to YouSport.de, can also be viewed via almost all partners and on ran.de.

YouSport therefore not only provides a platform for the exceptional achievements of amateur athletes, it also benefits clubs as it offers free video production and distribution. More than 1,200 sports clubs already use the app across Germany. They run their own channels on YouSport, which can be embedded in the club websites. “Being part of a club teaches young people in particular important values that are essential to cohesion and coexistence within our society. Many sports clubs are therefore doing important work, and a lot of them do so voluntarily. With YouSport, we want to support this work and give a platform to those who too often remain behind the scenes,” says Stefan Zant, Managing Director of 7Sports. “After all, overcoming boundaries, integrating outsiders into the community and bringing people together – this is something that only sport can do.”
